Book: The Designful Company

For those out there that love to read non-fiction stuff… a great site when you can access to countless e-books is Safari Book Online. of course it comes at a price, but it is so much friendlier to the environment, coz buying books and thrashing it later is a no-no…

Anyway, here’s the top 10 challenges company faced.

  1. Balancing long-term goals with short-term goals
  2. Predicting the return on innovation concepts
  3. Innovating at the increasing speed of change
  4. Winning the war for world-class talent
  5. Combining profitability with social responsibility
  6. Protecting margin in a commoditizing industry
  7. Multiply success by collaborating across silos
  8. Find unclaimed yet profitable market space
  9. Addressing the challenge of eco-sustainability
  10. Aligning strategy with customer experience

I am not done with the book, but i like books that ask intelligent questions that i can identify with, and take me on a journey to unravel it!

Three Great Stores!

I have been sourcing my sister’s bday gift.. A digital frame, at whopping 50% discount on amazon. I source for 2 books at more than 50% discount, and at vision direct, a whopping 66% off what i would spend in singapore. Toric lenses cost me $360 a year.. off the store $120, cheaper than even JB which usually cost me $180, and the last time they gave me lenses that was 10 times less than my correct degree!

This services are only great because of the recent competition between Singapore banks in providing competitive conslidating shipping. Between Citibank, OCBC, DBS, UOB and VPost. I must say at the moment OCBC is the cheapest! While Vpost is busy lauching to different countries, they are facing a tough fight by the price slashing tactics of OCBC and Citibank!

Bargain 3: BetterWorld.com

This week i’ve been hunting for some books. And came across many online bookstore, namely Amazon.com, opentrolley.com.sg and acmamall.com. However none can be compared to BetterWorld.com. it is a place like Amazon, you can find new books and old books. However the shipping price differs greatly. For the entire shipment from amazon, you pay USD4.99, then another USD4.99 per item. However betterworld, is only USD2.97 per item flat fee. And all the 2nd hand items, are available for international shipping, something I had always wished Amazon do a better job. What’s good about supporting BetterWorld, is that they are also a social enterprise supporting literarcy.

“Better World Books collects and sells books online to fund literacy initiatives worldwide. With more than two million new and used titles in stock, we’re a self-sustaining, triple-bottom-line company that creates social, economic and environmental value for all our stakeholders.”

And after comparing price on opentrollery, and amcamall, both Singapore Services, betterworld offers me one of the best prices. I saved over SGD$50 on 8 books on betterworld. Of course if you just want to buy one book and cannot wait, go for opentrollery, they are not too bad.

Here’s a whopping 15% discount, that you can use in one order (any number of books): BWBLiteracy (one-time usage only)

Anyway, this is bargain 3 for the week, since getting the nike shoes, and airport express.
